New superzoom for Canon & Nikon SLRs

Tamron has announced today a very ambitious lens, an 18-270mm superzoom specifically designed for Digital SLRs with APS-C sensors. It incorporates the company’s ‘Vibration Control’ optical image stabilisation system which with the 35mm equivalent of roughly a 28-400mm lens on a body is going to be useful. Using aspheric elements and low dispersion glass has been the technical key.

The company has not yet announced pricing or availability information. It will initially only be available in Canon and Nikon mounts.
