Canon EOS 1000D / Rebel XS / Kiss F) Review

Over at dpreview.com there is a new review (not one of the many previews available) for the latest Canon Digital SLR’s the entry level EOS1000D as it’s known in Europe, in the US it’s the Rebel XS and I believe in Asia it’s the Kiss F. It’s not shipping yet so there’s not been many hands on.

So what do they think? After 30+ pages of assessing the camera in detail and also comparing it to similar priced competitors the conclusion is that it doesn’t stand out from it’s competitors but it’s very competent in what it does. Like all lower end cameras there are missing features from bigger brothers in the family but for a camera aimed at new users it’s not the end of the world as they’re getting a solid performer with good images.

The big question….what will it settle down at as a market price? This is going to be a big consideration for the first time buyer with a now quite wide choice.
