Canon 5D mk2 / Canon 50D @ Photokina ‘08 ?
There are more Canon 5D mk2 rumors speculating that the 5D mk2 & also Canon 50D are on their way over at a post on the forums at photography-on-the.net. It is based on a blog post by a Swedish Photography Magazine editor (the biggest Swedish photo magazine apparently). For those of us who can’t read Swedish there is thankfully a translation, which though not perfect English is quite readable. Apparently the launch of the new Canon product(s) is the day before Photokina, September 22nd.
The nub of the post is that his Canon source says that they are disappointed with the sales of the 40D which despite the somewhat large price difference to the Nikon D300, it is this competitor camera which is affecting the Canon sales. There’s also some follow up which is interesting and one of them points to the dpreview saying the 40D is a bit soft compared to the D300, and then goes on to list some other key technical comparisons.
