Canon 3D & 6D back on the rumor front

By | July 25, 2008

It’s still speculation time for the 5D mk2 with little of substance appearing around the web. Canon Rumors has a post which reports to a source referring back to the two new replacement possibility for the 5D namely the 3D & 6D.

There’s speculation for improved dynamic range, but then what manufacturer wouldn’t want to get this? Another which I find harder to believe is that TIFF file shooting could be added. I’m not sure why this would be desirable, it would be great for processing for the Pro Shooter who is sending files to publishers but skipping the RAW processing is no big deal.

Another interesting post is that Canon Inc shows reduced profits. That’s not just camera sales it incluses copiers but they state that Digital Cameras will grow but that price competition will intensify. Now that’s no surprise in the Digital Camera and Digital SLR market but it shows that in a Financial statement they know it’s the big issue, so surely it’s going to benefit us the consumer. To grow that equals shipping a greater number of units at a lower price point, more pressure on them to perform in the stock market.
