5D mk2 autofocus

By | September 27, 2008

The 5D mk2 camera isn’t even in peoples hands, that is to say owning or fully reviewing the camera and it’s there’s widespread speculation in the forums across the web about the autofocus system and whether it is up to scratch.

Understandably with a new high cost and long awaited camera everyone wants a bigger and better version of the prevous, many seem disappointed with the apparent lack of progress against Nikon of the autofocus system. Instead Canon’s efforts appear to have gone into new sensors with higher Megapixels, low noise at high ISO’s and of course HD video.

Many people are believing that the new focus systems isn’t an improvement, and the general feeling from this is that if you shoot landscapes, weddings, portraits etc. then it should still perform well. If you want to take sports shots then with the fps speed and potential concerns on the servo focus speed and reliability then some real hands on reviews and comparisons are going to be eagerly awaited.

One good post shows sports shot’s from an old 5D, so you can see it’s not all that bad. That said they’re not from high speed sports

We’re all waiting I’m sure for people to get production models and get the full reviews posted. Then of course we’ll all know and be wondering whether to hit the credit card!
